That purple on the new hetfield looks nowhere near as good as the broken one, in my opinion

The fact that shipping companies can destroy stuff with almost no repercussions is criminal.

I ordered a new bike last month that UPS did so much damage that the rear wheel was bent and the chain ring had to be replaced before I could even use it.

1:35 that looks like a forklift did that. 💯 I’ve seen it and done something similar to a much more expensive piece of equipment at the refinery I was working at. No way to deny that one.

My buddy worked for both major shipping companies and he always warned me to avoid "handle with care" because unfortunate it invites nefarious people to maybe NOT handle them with so much care. I believe I know what's going, in fact I'm pretty certain, but I'll keep it to myself. It's not only just with guitars obviously. It's almost anything, including a more than well packaged first edition incredibly rare book. I was physically sick, still am, because it was irreplaceable.

Have a family member that retired from UPS. Advice from UPS internally was to pack so it can fall 8-10' onto concrete and not be damaged. They use a conveyor system in larger facilities that can be that high. I have had issues with UPS and FedEx and dealing with their insurance is always a pain. Hope the run of bad luck passes

We could use a new episode about proper packing and shipping techniques

Hopefully you noticed the loose bridge on the replacement Hetfield before you shipped it. With removing the strings and tuners, it was about to come off when you closed the case. Don't want that swimming around scratching the top during shipping.

The DG 335 you shipped me had a big hole in the box as well.

I went on a tour through our UPS hub when I had applied there. We were on the gangway above the conveyer when a 4” round steel bar careened down one belt and took out 3 boxes on the main belt. Buy local if you can.

I like the purple on the new one more. Way less goofy looking. As for the broken one. Just ket a Luthier glue it back on if insurance lets you. Just a regular break. No problem there.

I had a left handed fiesta red AVRI 2 strat arrive with the neck pocket cracked down both sides and keyholed neck screws. Then had an amp arrive with the cabinet completely smashed. Then another guitar came broken. I’m not sure if they’re deliberately breaking stuff or if people just don’t care any more, but it used to be extremely rare for guitars to arrive damaged. Now it’s something like a third of the stuff I order, music or otherwise, ends up damaged.

I had a beautiful Gibson 25/50 Les Paul from 1978 shipped from Wayne Gretzky Land in Canada to Los Angeles last November. The shipper, a music store, under-insured it by 90% ($10k CAD) via Canada Post to US Mail. Yikes!!!.

The headstock had some binding cracked off and a pickup ring was split. Simple fix by a good luthier, The binding down the neck had cracks, but I think that is like finish checking on a 45 year old guitar. The guitar must have shipped neck down in the case for 2000-3000 miles. I asked for 2-3 day shipping, so it came by air, but was still banged around.

TIP: As a precaution, always detune your guitars before shipping or handling to avoid too much tension on the headstock and neck and especially during an air flight. High altitude air pressure is a usual culprit for snapping guitar necks. I once noticed the glass face popped off my wristwatch during a flight.

You can fix that headstock by cutting the edge smooth and attaching a new piece with dowels.

Not exclusive to US..
I bought a UAFX Ruby from a German shop which was sent via UPS too and came with the pedal switch broken.. with a huge hole in the box too.. fortunately I was refunded

my guess is that the epiphones neck/headstock breaks are happening because the headstock is fixed in a slit in the box..so when dumped on the "back" the guitar only rests on the headstock and at the lower part of the

That Fender amp sounds as a Fender should! Very nice!🎉

Shipping damage is the worst heart break. I have a new gold top Les Paul coming this week from Sweetwater. I got a good deal from them. But it has to ride every nail biting mile from Ft. Wayne to Portland, Oregon.

That’s why I pronounce UPS “Oops”! They are notorious for breakage….. Fed Ex always, express saver is better than ground 👍🏻
