NDIS Stories 04 - Is Anyone Listening?
Показать описание
In this video, Danny, Kelly, Jaimsie, Beck, and Amy-Lee talk about whether they feel listened to in relation to the NDIS. They are seated in front of a blue background.
Transcript
Narrator: We asked people with disability whether they felt they were being listened to in relation to the NDIS.
Danny: When it comes to the NDIS, I don't think people with a disability is being listened to. They get people in the LAC jobs that has no background in people with disabilities, that I have found out.
Kelly: Whether or not people with disability are being listened to depends on who they get to speak to, which LAC, or which planner, that person's understanding of the disability and the support needs of the person in front of them.
Jaimsie: I did feel like I was heard, but I also heard from other people like, they didn't have good experience, and their planners weren't so good, so I think I was just lucky.
Beck: Some people do get listened to, but some cases like mine, I never get listened to.
Amy-Lee: People that are close to you and have a bit more ground experience are very good listeners and they're really getting the point, however on a macro level, a governmentry, fulfilling level, I don't feel we are being listened to at all.
Kelly: I'm not sure if the politicians and decision makers are really listening to people with a disability. I think they say they are and that sometimes they might think they are, but I'm not sure that they fully understand the depth of what's happening at the moment.
