Tell you what - that audience couldn't be more receptive and respectful. The silence, poise and stillness throughout this performance was cavernously special.

That was the longest complete silence after a performance I have ever heard. The audience is to be commended for taking their cue from the piece’s perfectly straight diminuendo finish.

the original samuel barber adagio for strings in g minor is a mindblowing piece as well but this choral rendition here is sublime

This is as beautiful a performance of this fine work as you can get. The voices are absolutely stunning; the balance and blend are total perfection; the diction and clarity of pronunciation is outstanding as well. It also shows that one does not need to hear this from a larger chorus of singers, as the 'full effect' here is displayed in all its musical intent. Combining these two wonderful groups was a wonderful idea, and more of this collaboration between VOCES8 and VOKETT HANOVER would be totally welcomed and a real treat. Samuel Barber himself would indeed be pleased with this outstanding performance, that is quite certain.

Surely one of the most difficult pieces and one of the most glorious. Barber was very smart to have created this choral setting. I cannot imagine a finer performance. Sublime.

Barber’s Adagio is my all time favourite piece of music, particularly as written for strings, but these singers have put it to another level. Truly, truly beautiful.

Ich bin sprachlos....
Es ist mit Worten nicht auszudrücken, was dieser Gesang in mir auslöst

I'm so used to this being performed by instruments, but having it sung by angels 😇 will do!

Absolutely stunning… No one hears this work without remembering the London Symphony performing this as a tribute to the victims of 9/11. What a magnificent rendition.❤
