Many years ago, I was operating a traction engine (Foden 1700) driving a saw bench. I could watch the governor and listen to the exhaust beat as a log entered the blade and when it exited. I could also observe the water level rise up in the glass as the balls went down and the exhaust got sharp and loud as the saw started to cut and the reverse as the material left the blade.

I was running my Wilesco Model Steam Engine a couple of months ago, and suddenly the governor drive belt snapped. I have not been able to replace it yet because every time I look for a new one, they have been a straight belt not attached. Do you know where I can get one that is attached at both ends or how I can attach the ends to make it a circle?

Hey Keith, I was testing my steambike the other day and I had big problems with the gas cannister freezing up. I use Coleman c500 gas cannisters, and as far as I know the cannister was quite full still. Do you know any ways I can prevent this? The tank cannot be mounted near the steam line or burner for safety and logistic reasons. Cheers, Thijs.
