This is referring to the soviet invasion of Afghanistan, and was really the beginning of the real Islamic conflict with the west. Us along with the USA helped to arm the mujahadeen with weapons to fight the threat of communism, those same weapons were later turned on the west in more recent conflicts. This song is so much relevant today. Maybe Charlie Harper knew what was coming
