Update ALREADY Has Bugs? (But Also Fixes!) - Sims 4

The base game update ahead of the sims 4 lovestruck expansion pack brings with it curved pools for build mode, romantic boundaries for live mode, new UI, update to neighborhood stories, and new hairs in cas mode. There are also tons of new bug fixes! (but also bugs as well). Here's what to expect in the sims 4 update for July 2024.

GOOD NEWS: A HUGE List of bug fixes. Need to test to see what works and what doesn't though. purportedly sims are supposed to not flirt autonomously based on patch notes if they are in a relationship--- let;'s see if that actually happens, I have some doubts due to the "flirty" mood

Im pleased with the eyelashes being added just because I know the modders are gonna update all their lashes and move it to that panel. So now I can finally have lashes and some shades on my sim lol. I used to hate having to pick between the 2 for certain looks

One thing that annoys about the eyelashes is that they don't replace the existing ones. It just sits below it and looks super weird. I'm not sure if it's a bug or an oversight tbh.

I completely agree with you about wishing the attraction system came to the base game while the pack focused more on dating and activities! I'm glad there is a long list of bug fixes! I like how they included the base game style wedding option even if you have My Wedding Stories too

I'm sad they changed the relationship titles. I'm a lesbian and I like to play with queer sim families. Personally for me, it's important to call my lesbian couples "wives, " just like if/when I get married I would call my wife my wife and not my spouse. It feels like they're trying to be inclusive, but it's backfiring and clumsy. I wish they would let us choose the relationship titles, or have them tied to sim pronouns. I know that I'm not the only one in the LGBTQ+ community that feels like this, but I have no idea how to make the sims team know that's how we feel.

I don't like the change they made in the relationships name. But not because it is gender neutral. In my language they used a term nobody uses in real live. The problem is, in Dutch partner can be used for married and unmarried people. So they made it married partner if you would translate it, but I never heard that to be used in real live, which makes it a bit weird. I get it, you can’t label both as partner, but still weird.

I would have loved if it was boyfriend/girlfriend/partner so the option of choice was there.

Some of us enjoy traditional terms and the sims 4s updates as of late aren’t as mindful to traditional perspectives. Both options would be nice

This patch just broke my game. Viewing the character values for child or teen causes the values to strobe and you are no longer able to open options to close the game. They obviously didn't test with kids and teens.

3:41 i hate this part b/c i get they was trying to be inclusive but then made it more exclusive to those who want the male and female titles this upset me. I like calling my husband and wife or boyfriend and girlfriend its cute.. fiancé didnt really need to change since its already natural. Just a dumb move on that part.

What I really want for Neighborhood Stories is to allow player tuning and by that I mean more than just an on/off button. Like slow changes, medium changes, or fast changes (which would also balance out with lifespans, as a leisurely long lifespan player I want neighborhood stories to happen, just way slow. Other people like fast constant changes so let them have that and let me have my slower pace. I want to give my unplayed sims option to have babies and adopt pets without being afraid I'lll find they've had 3 kids as fast as they can pump them out, adopted a horse in an apartment, and have several dogs. Like I want to allow the neighborhood to grow and change around my sims, but the frequency tuning on nieghborhood stories has always been so bad.

The patch notes state: "Sims in a relationship will no longer receive unsolicited autonomous flirtations from other Sims, unless they have the Noncommittal Trait, of course." so if that actually works, then we shouldn't need to worry about the autonomous flirting screwing up the jealousy. We'll see.

Also, they already hotfixed this patch so there is a second patch to this.

Im glad i didn't update my game yet. I'll just wait until modders fix the mods. But good god finally we can copy and paste makeup and accessories!! I already did that with the mc commands mod but im glad console and non mod players wont heve to suffer anymore 😭

yeah honestly i sure DONT like girlfriend-boyfriend being changed to partner. partner implies that its solid and long term. bf=gf is like.. playful fun not really commitment. partner refers to like.. people who have been together a long time but they arent married yet. but maybe thats just the usa english idea about it

I will admit I don't care too much about the jealousy system... I don't really use it, just wish there was a way to stop my Sims from flirting with anyone that crosses their path. It's really annoying playing a happily married couple and both flirting with the neighbor...

does that mean they still do? imo this should not have been a problem since day one, but I guess that's true for a lot of things.

real glad the base game weddings are supposedly back, even with wedding stories installed.

I do actually wish there was an additional option 'use masculine/feminine gendered terms' and 'use gender-neutral language'. Whilst as a nonbinary person I think it's great that sims now won't be misgendered so much, I do understand that de-gendering is also an issue that binary trans people face (as well as some cisgender people, especially some intersex ones). I can definitely see them being uncomfortable if their simself, or even an entirely fictional trans sim, is referred to as only a spouse or partner and not a husband/wife or boyfriend/girlfriend.

Additionally, I could see even cisgender queer people being uncomfortable with the game basically not recognising sims as husband and husband or wife and wife, but instead as spouses.

I'm another for "should have given us the choice of partner/boyfriend/girlfriend" - I know real life couples (both straight, gay, and poly) who prefer using the gendered terms, so it would be nice to have that choice available in game as well. And definitely wish that the attraction system was base game, and the Lovestruck was a game pack that involved new dating venues (which we desperately need - soooo very tired of bar/nightclub/park/museum dates). I would be more likely to purchase Lovestruck (although turning romance into a skill still annoys me) if it came with new places to go and new things to do; what about an arcade with pool tables and video games? Or a beach, with beach specific activities for one's date? Or even a rabbit hole restaurant instead of those boring food booths (which I never use except at City Living festivals)? And please don't say we couldn't have a rabbit hole restaurant because restaurants are locked behind DLC; we had rabbit hole restaurants in base game Sims 3, and a Dine Out type bistro one could purchase from the Sims 3 store, and they didn't interfere with each other at all! ICYMI: They are now allowing us to have base game weddings!!! There are now 2 types of wedding options to plan, Plan Wedding Event (Base Game), or Plan Customizable Wedding Event (My Wedding Disasters). A real win. I haven't had a wedding in my game since that pack came out. It's time for some engaged couples to get hitched! 🎉🥂👏
