This happened to my boyfriend when he was 34. He was going to the gym regularly, he'd spent years with personal trainer getting in shape eating very healthy. When I met him he was very fit 180 lbs, he's only 5'6. He was going through a very stressful period, separation from his wife and working shift work, trying to be single parent. The stress took a toll. He had a heart attack while at work, had 2 stents put in. It was 3.5 years ago. Since then he has not exercised once. He's gained 20-30lbs and has poor cardio health. Takes about 6 medications, the blood thinners weren't working and he was getting blood clots. Now has to take a high dosage of warfarin. I want to get back into exercising at home but I'm very afraid he'll hit it too hard. I want him to do it safe. Need to find some cardiac rehab centers near us, but it's difficult with Covid and juggling life. I am down to 105 lbs because of stress and I worry constantly about his health. I need to gain he needs to lose. Live long and prosper to all those affected by loved ones with heart disease.

I sure relate to this. I am a 63 year old personal trainer and competitive powerlifter. One day after an easy lifting session I had chest pain and ultimately had a PCI with 2 stents inserted. Now I am given complete permission to return to unrestricted lifting and sprints. 99% blockage and now a complete path to resume life with training. 😊

At 48 in 2013 I had a heart attack and stent. Just like the gentleman in the video, I was always very active and not any risks...except I had a family history of heart disease. I didn't smoke and was not overweight. I continue to be active today and go for regular checkups at the cardiologist. I take my medication as directed. I do have an enlarged aorta and some heart rythm issues and a leaky valve...but all considering, I am still doing pretty well.

I had the identical story at age 49. All my friends freaked out because I’m the fit one. I’m back to mountain biking, road biking and lifting weights.

Consult your Dr. Understand everyone's situation is different. Exercise is proven and the benefits are well documented. I have read depending on severity and your health you want to take a break for first month, (minimal weight low intensity and duration), monitor your air and how hard you are breathing, try to gradually increase weight, intensity, duration over next months. Beware of any tingling, out of breath/heavy breathing, pain, change in cognitive ability, challenging speech. (Heart is specialized, not easy to monitor at home and properly understand test results, signs prior to a problem can be confused with many temporary issues, very subtle, and may sign may only get your attention when Medical attention is necessary)

Can I ask a doctor a question?

I am a heart patient and have had 4 heart stents installed about a month ago
And I am a bodybuilder... Can I lift weights, even with lighter weights, not exceeding 40 kg or 30 kg?
Indicating that I had to install the stents, I was carrying 180 kilos
I hope the correct answer is scientifically safe
all the respect and appreciation
