Filmmakers note: Michael Rother is hands down the nicest musician I ever had the pleasure of working with, a true gentleman and seminal artist. It was a lot of fun to film. It's cooler to be nice. Some musicians should take note.

I fell in love with Neu back when I was about 22, damn near 50 years ago now. Still love them.

Wie konnte ich diese geile Musik so lange ignorieren? Bin jetzt 60 und habe endlich kapiert, welche großartige Band NEU! ist. Shame on me. Naja es ist nie zu spät.

Ph-uc-'kin awesome!
A few years ago I was lucky enough to see Michael Rother at The Greenman in Wales. For me, it was easily the best act in the entire festival, I will never forget it.

Discovered Krautrock late in life around five years ago.
It's at once dated and futuristic. It's familiar and also fresh.
It's what I was always looking for when I think back and remember what else I was listening to.

I’ve been writing an alt-country/folk/soul album and def needed something else to listen to. This is right up my ally. Can’t believe I didn’t know/listen to in my late teens or early 20’s. I love this kind of sound. I watched a show by them in the mid 70’s and it was awesome. Can def mark this southern mutt down for being a fan of some Neu!

I can easily believe your filmmaker's note in the description. I met Rother briefly in 2014, very nice man. Unfortunately the gig was at a place run by students and I was kicked out toward the end of the gig for swaying to the music with my eyes closed. I wasn't even close to being drunk, those 18-year-olds didn't get it. Great gig though!

I don't what to say.. this is just brilliant musicianship. I can't listen to mumble rap but I can definitely listen to this.

I think it's fantastic that their music survived in over 45 years. There are a very intensive impression over that. Its not protopunk, its industrial, with fantasy in it. Charming, dreaming. Where do I come from? Maybe from county. My roots and then surviving in mega urban factory cities. Very exact expressed.

I love to see Michael unearthing his roots. To be honest I came across his works listening to "Flammende Herzen" back in 1978. Two years after the album's release. Anyway, when I went to our local record shop asking for "die Platte Flammende Herzen bitte...they ordered "Sterntaler" for me. That one was subtiteled-Flammende Herzen- and I went home by bike. I was dissapointed indeed, cause the real track "Flammende Herzen" was missing. No worries folks, I could get hold of the original vinyl later on. A couple of years later when digital records turned up I bought his masterpieces again. Blasting my ears off, and leaving me alone with having " a hard one" if you know what I mean. Later on the new releases came up: Ich habe nächtelang in meiner Wohnung gelegen und "Nachtpassage" oder "Patagonia Horizont" gehört.Bonus tracks never ever heard before. But to be honest: "Katzenmusik" to me is his masterpiece.Being on stage with Hans - Klaus and Jaki sadly passed away - so our last surviving hero to promote the Apache Beat has taken over.Hans Lampe hat übrigens auch zu seinen La Düsseldorf Zeiten niemals lange Haare getragen.Soviel mal zum Thema Häuptling der Apachen. The seventies indeed were the best years of my life.Really great peeps out there, they "shaped" me somehow. So many more names to be mentioned like Wolfgang Riechman, Klaus's younger brother Thomas...And now we see them introducing younger guys to play along. They'll have to take over a kind of burdon. Let's call it HERITAGE. Best way ti do it I guesss.

Greetings,
Dietmar
