I think this song was made for his first love. "Memories we made took em down but they're still in their frames" meaning he tried to forget those sweet memories because they are now painful but no matter what he does, he could never forget. First loves are when we first experience love so we don't know yet the kind of pain that comes with losing it. That's why we give it all without holding back. And that's why the first is always the most beautiful and the most tragic.
