Got a query that someone may help with. I download my company bank statements and paste them down the left hand side of my spread sheet. Many payments are wages to the same people who have individually named columns further along to the right hand side. To document each persons wages and keep a running total, I have to copy the cell with the payment amount, scroll along to find the named column and paste. I have quite a few columns for other types of entries and scrolling back and forward seems to be taking up a lot of time. I'll try to explain what i'd be looking for.

So if you imagine columns 20-40 are labelled peoples names. So John has the 'W' column and i would like all his cells to search the first columb on the row 'A' that is the bank statement description including peoples names. If Johns cell confirmed his name is in that cell then it would match his 'W' cell with the ' B' cell (deposit amount$) This would mean when i download and paste my bank statement, all of Johns wages on that statement would automatically be in his column 'W' also. The formula could be repeated with the other 19 names, saving me a lot of time.

If anyone knows or could point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated.😀
