Vermonter here. Late to the game and just finally listened to Noah's stunning album that my college son has raved about. Yeah, it's 3 am., but this album floored me like none has in years. I somehow just stumbled into your chillingly beautiful and melancholic renditions. Wow! Looked through the comments and seeing lots of calls for Noah Kahan to come up to Montreal and do a duet with you. After hearing this cover, might I suggest that someday you come down to Vermont and find a way to reciprocate. :-)

This was an absolutely beautiful cover! I’m not sure if it was intentional, but when the harmony kicked in at the “it’s half my fault” portion, it feels like both halves of the relationship are speaking out in regret. Bravo!

Beautiful! My wife and I met when we were both living in Vermont, in the upper valley, although we loved going up to Burlington and the Kingdom, which is where Noah is from, I believe. So 18-20 years later she leaves me with our 3 kids and goes off to be by herself and now 4.5 years after she walked out we're both alone and unhappy. Well, I know I am.
So yeah, this song really kicks me in the gut.
Noah, your version was great, and really, your vocal inflections and how you carry the melody through into the next line and how you phrase things is, and was, really very unique, so her version would not have been possible without yours.
But somehow, and it works because she just chooses the right songs, it just becomes even more mournful, and for me, it works.
As a guitar player, I'll sing your version! As a guy with a broken heart, I'll cry to her version.
