I have never seen the Queen greet anyone in this manner. She must have genuinely liked him. So nice.

I have never seen her greet anyone like this, she had that smile that only the people she admired and loved received.

The man that died without a grudge. He confused his enemies with kindness. A gentle heart that ever walked among people.

What a beautiful interaction. I don’t believe I’ve ever seen the Queen greet someone with a bigger smile. So much grace. Love and respect. Beautiful.

Not many could get away with this level of informality with the Queen...she must have really liked him.

What he kept secret was he was deaf in one ear and loss of pitch in the other.
That's why he speaks clearly and loud, and she raises her voice.

My admiration for Nelson Mandela has diminished with time, but I'll give him this much, he was a charming guy, and he had great people skills. He was released from 27 years imprisonment on 11th February 1990, and then almost immediately embarked on a world tour. I am from Kenya, in East Africa, and he and his then wife, Winnie Madikizela, were here in Kenya in July 1990.

He and Winnie blended very well with Kenyans from all walks of life, and the highlight of their July 1990 visit to Kenya was a resounding and memorable speech that was given by Nelson Mandela on 13th July 1990, at Kasarani Stadium, Nairobi, Kenya, in honour of the Kenyan freedom struggle. Both Nelson and Winnie Mandela, at the said memorable occasion of 13th July 1990, even participated in the freedom songs that were sang to them by a Kenyan choir, in honour of the people of the South Africa, and the South African freedom struggle.

On the day they departed Kenya, a different Kenyan choir sang another freedom song to Nelson and Winnie Mandela, this time in either Xhosa or Zulu, two major languages spoken in South Africa. Neither Xhosa nor Zulu are spoken in Kenya, and Kiswahili is the major language spoken here in Kenya, so you can imagine how amazed, thrilled and delighted that both Nelson and Winnie Mandela were at being sang to in their language, in a "far off land."

Another thing. At the occasion I mention above of 13th July 1990, the Kenyan choir I mention, periodically chanted "Amandla" to Nelson and Winnie Mandela, which means "Power to the People" in South Africa, something that tremendously thrilled and delighted Nelson and Winnie Mandela, with both equally responding with chants of "Amandla, " as they punched the air with their fists.

Like I say, it was a memorable visit.

Thanks for the great video clip, ITNArchive, and Rest in Peace, Nelson and Winnie Mandela.

Regards, Michael M. Kamau, Nairobi, Kenya, East Africa, 10th April 2025.

Nelson Mandela said that No one is born hating another person, hate is learned, if hate can be learned, so can love, because love comes to the human heart more naturally! It was one of the most beautiful statements I ever heard. God is love! God bless everyone!
