"Non-profit" doesn't mean they don't make money.

Only large scale non profit organizations work like this…usually local/smaller ones don’t. For the ppl who are living in the communities they’re serving, this isn’t the case

Well said. If they're really serious about getting their message out there they'll be willing to invest. It's less about whether or not they have money and more about what they want to spend it on.

I have a non profit and a business and my business pay for my non profit. I just now have started taking donations because people see what I do and rather invest in the community instead of paying it to the gov..It's a tax right off but at least you helping a good cause..

Worked for a major non profit in my city coordinating media. My directors ALWAYS asked if we could work out a discount with vendors.

If a npo has a noble cause, and the person who does most of the work receives minimal compensation, what is wrong with them asking for support? This is a very jaded generalization that throws all npos into a category where MOST do not live. Not cool.

The challenge with a lot of None Profits is they treat their Organization not like a real business. They spend money like its not theirs, and they don't invest it properly like a for profit business. ALL None Profits need to manage their organization with the same intent to MAKE PROFIT. If your books are in the RED, even if you got donors and volunteers, your organization will inevitably fail. Profit is the simplest way to measure weather your business is healthy or not. Unhealthy business are unsustainable.

They say they are "non-profit', but are they really?

How many people that are destitute and homeless are actually being helped with your cash/ money donations?

Who's pocket is the donation going into to?

How much of that proceeed is used to help the less fortunate and needy?

Not all of them are like this. Imagine if we can see all the companies that donated to charities because they are nonprofits versus companies that are just companies and they have not donated anything to charities. I like the ones that have public records it's not hard to look up

I’m starting 2-3 nonprofits in Oregon. Taking my time, doing it right, with FULL transparency. Any CEO/founder using funds beyond what is essential, should not run a nonprofit because they could be doing more. I work 45hr weeks and make under $54k yr; WITH a family of 6. I have ran the numbers and a genuine nonprofit president only “needs” $80-90k per year in today’s economy if they budget and are fully transparent. 😎✌🏾🪶

this so sad to hear when my nonprofit is to sponsor people. Unfortunately it took longer to start. People teach different things about nonprofit. Some courses scare people into submitting to that low stage of just begging thinking they can't even provide a service or pay their board when thats not tryi
