My Journey to a 315 lb Bench Press!

When I first started lifting in 2011, benching 135 lbs aka "1 plate," was the end goal for me. When I achieved it, I became hungry to lift more and more. I soon set a goal of benching 225 lbs aka "2 plates"... which I achieved in 2014 or so.

As time progressed, I wondered if I would ever be able to bench 315 lbs aka "3 plates." And it never occurred to me that it would be possible until earlier this year. I usually train for bodybuilding but I dedicated 4 full weeks to strength training where I benched 2-3x a week with very heavy weight. This allowed me to successfully bench 315 lbs and set a new PR for myself at a bodyweight of 166 lbs!!

Although I failed 325 lbs, I know that I will be able to get it soon. My advice for you guys out there chasing your goals, is to set smaller goals first and accomplish them in order to build up to your ultimate goal. For example, when I benched 225 lbs, my ULTIMATE goal was 315 lbs BUT I set small goals in between of doing 250 lbs then 275 lbs, etc....

Just turned 48 years old and been working out for 3 years and got 315 last month, felt great.

Congrats!!!! 300lbs is a benchmark weight where you realize your dedication to working out has paid off.I just hit 325lbs a few weeks ago.Hope to get 350lbs up by mid year.

Great video, really motivating me to get stronger. Going for 205 tomorrow, been staying at 185lbs. Time to push the 200 mark and only go up from there.

took me 8 years to get to and over a 315 bench. I'm also 240lbs, but 6'3' so i have a long ROM.

A good goal for people who are repping 225, is to focus on working with 275 for 5 reps. Once you can do that, you will likely be able to do 315+.

I’ve been lifting seriously for 6 years and have still never hit 315 on bench but I’m getting real close. My chest genetics are very poor compared to the rest of my physique but that’s no excuse.

Conventional Deadlift - 495
Squat - 380
Bench - 300
Overhead Press - 195

Current weight is 173. Hoping to hit some new PRs across the board in the coming months as I put on some more weight 💪🏼

Im a few days shy of 1 year consistent started at 155lbs just hit 225lbs max today! 315 is my next long term goal

315 is really impressive, only saw it once in the gym. I myself lifted 225 after five months of training but it was heavy as fuck, stopped benching, went with dips and two weeks later added 12lbs to my bench but I stopped it since. I started a bench program today after a year of break due to shoulder and back injuries. Hope to get to the 315 next year
