You HAVE to listen to her song Uninvited. It's probably her best vocals ever!!!

She wrote this song after traveling to India, where she learned meditation and self reflection. She came to understand that things we tend in the West to think of as "bad" are often really there to teach and grow us spiritually and are worth being thankful for. Lovely song! <3

“That I would be good” from the same album is a masterpiece.

“How ‘bout how good it feels to finally forgive you.” Such a brilliant lyric, and gives a message of a complete recovery from the trauma expressed in her previous album.

Jagged Little pill was one of the greatest albums ever released

Love this tune! I believe she wrote this sometime after a trip to India where she explored Indian spiritual culture and practice. Supposedly the trip to India made her analyze all the good things and success in her life, hence “Thank You”

Not sure who else you have today but another Canadian songstress to listen to with a beautiful voice is Sarah McLachlan.

During the pandemic she appeared on the Tonight Show to sing Ablaze, a song about her kids. Performing from home, her toddler interrupted. A lot. She held her daughter throughout and not only sang beautifully but paid as much attention to her as she could. No headphones (daughter took them) and still sounded perfect. She's just incredible.

She is an incredible vocalist, philosopher and poet. If you watch the movie Dogma, you will see her playing God! National pride moment… of the 4 artists you mentioned, Alanis, Celine and Shania are all Canucks! 🇨🇦♥️

Alanis Morissette is the most outstanding female vocalist of all time.

Probably my favourite Alanis song. Vulnerable lyricism with great dynamics between piano and vocals. Her chorus in this is superb.

This song from her is about how she felt after touring and promoting her album "Jagged Little Pill" for a year. She had achieved what people told her she needed to as a music artist, but didn't feel any happier because of it. She had been looking outside herself for happiness and validation which didn't help. She also spent a year in India which was a strong influence on her coming to terms with herself. This song is about learning through adversity and becoming more empathetic with herself and others.

This song didn't click with me when I was younger and heard it, but decades later it hits really hard! Thank you, Rob Squad :)

Morissette was considered one of the biggest music stars in the world, and many fans anxiously awaited a follow-up album.
During a trip to India, in 1997, Alanis wrote some songs, including
"Thank U". In 1998

One day my husband came home with this cassette of 'some new singer named Alanis Morissette". I was like, "WHO?". But, Holy man! When I first heard her song, "You Ought To Know" in '95 her voice and explosive lyrics captivated me. And, frankly, some of it's rawness was off putting until I immediately realized here was a singer who's painful relationship experiences were bleeding out onto the sheet music. Her healing journey can be followed in all of her songs. "Thank You", being one of them that tells fans she's working out her demons, found and given forgiveness to those who deeply hurt her. I contend that she's not in the spotlight as much now because she's finally found happiness. How beautiful. I absolutely love her music.

This song is about forgiveness and getting to the other side of an issue within yourself. Love Alanis so much!
