A MYSTERIOUS spiral 'whirlpool' has been spotted floating across the sky above Hawaii, baffling scientists.

The Subaru-Asahi Star Camera captured a mysterious flying spiral over Maunakea, Hawaii. Astronomers believe the spiral to be related to the SpaceX company's launch of a new satellite - which was launched on the same day.

The spiral could be bright enough to see with a human eye, reflecting the sunlight; however, the camera captured it very clearly with higher sensitivity. In addition, the dark sky of Maunakea enhanced the spiral's detailed structure.

The Subaru Telescope is an 8.2-meter optical-infrared telescope near the summit of Maunakea, Hawaii.

This is a Falcon 9 rocket. SpaceX launched a global-positioning satellite into medium orbit at 7:24 a.m. that same day from the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.

Never mind the freaky whirlpool thingy, what about all the other shniz bouncing around that we can see?

If I saw this in real life I would immediately think it’s a black hole and that we’re all gonna die

It's a rocket booster. They all do that. It's like rifling the barrel of a gun. It's to keep it on track and trajectory. That's not the issue. The issue is WHY a rocket was launched, WHERE and WHAT it was launched from. This was a missile test of some kind.

The whirlpool was spotted on January 18, the same day SpaceX launched a Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral to deploy a GPS satellite into a medium-Earth orbit for the U.S. Space Force.

Experts believe the phenomenon was linked to frozen rocket fuel that was ejected during the rocket’s launch.

After the first stage of the launch, which provides the main propulsion for lift-off, the rocket is separated from the payload-carrying second stage around three minutes after launch and eventually returns to the Earth.

After separating from the first stage, the second stage uses its engine to propel itself into position to deploy the satellite after which any remaining fuel is ejected before re-entry. This second stage means the rocket is spinning before deorbiting and falling back down to Earth.

That is an amazing view of the night sky! Someone wrote that this could be the second stage spin up of a rocket/ satilite separation. Is that true ?

Second stage spin up before releasing a satellite. Using a second stage spin up saves RCS fuel in a satellite

Looks amazing but was apparently just some spaceX phenomenon, a satellite launch or something. Looks gnarly, like something on DMT

I’ve been up on that mountain. It was amazing

If it's from The Sun, it must be true.

It was from a Rocket booster, spiraling... they tend to do that when the 1st, 2nd or 3rd stage etc. separates from the main rocket

There were no rocket launches on that day ! Not to mention Hawaii doesn't launch rockets... It does look almost exactly like a time warp from star trek, sounds weird but im rolling with that..

im more amazed by how polluted with satellites the sky are
