My sister nearly died because of this. . It was her mental health therapist that pushed her to go to the ER .. The obgyn missed ALL of the signs. I think God that she and my niece are okay ❤

As a mother who lost her first daughter at 35 weeks due to missed pre eclampsia, please make sure you have a obgyn who listens to your concerns.

They caught mine in time to give me magnesium and keep me from having seizures. To bad they made me feel stupid a few days before for going to L&D because I wasn't feeling okay. The male doctor blew me off and basically said unless I am in labor or bleeding don't come back. A few days later I had my regular 36 week appointment my BP was 160/110 and my kidneys were going down. Had my baby that day, saved both of our lives. Doctors need to listen better too many are callous and arrogant.

I had preeclampsia with both my babies. Both were born early to avoid this situation. Luckily both they and I are ok. I have permanent high blood pressure, but that is small compared to what could have happened.

It is shame to see the number of black women who needlessly die during pregnancy and childbirth.

That doc most definitely needs to be sued for negligence on her part.

Let me tell yall how good my obgyn was. After a week in the hospital the baby and I was finally able to go home. I had a C Section. 3 days went by and I had a headache that just wouldn’t leave. I didn’t think anything of it and resumed to taking care of the baby and myself. I got a random phone call from my doctor, not the nurse, my actual doctor and he said “ I was just thinking about you and the baby. Is your head hurting?” I said yes and he told me to go to the hospital immediately and that he would make sure that they have a room waiting for me. I got to the hospital and my blood pressure was so damn high, stroke level. I had to stay there for about three days doing a magnesium solfate treatment. After that I literally felt like a brand new person, my whole body detoxed while I was in there too. I am so grateful that my doctor called me that day and had me to go to the hospital, I wouldn’t have been here anymore and left behind at the time my husband a 5 year old and a new born. He said he just had a feeling, I didn’t have any issue with high blood pressure during my pregnancy.

I had a friend in high school that died from this, and her baby didn't survive either. She was only 18, and had so much going for her. Yes she was going to be a teen mom, but she still had plans for college and had been an honors student.

My son will be 34 this year. I had to lay on my left side the entire last month and a half of my pregnancy.
Did a C-section early to make sure this didn't happen. May God bless all the women who have to go through this and protect them and their babies!!! Thankful for good doctors and nurses

As a Doctor, currently doing my 48hrs call in labour room, specially PET (preeclampsia treatment) fr monitoring BP to administrating hydralazine to administering Mgso4, to correcting potassium to running to the blood bank and back to theatre for c/s, I feel so proud of myself

Tips:
‼️If u are pregnant or just gave birth from 0-40 days, a known case of hypertension and Diabetes Miletus, had previous history of preeclampsia ‼️ And notice limbs swelling, headache down to your neck/ heaviness, chest/ epigastric pain, blurring of the vision, pls rush to your Gynae Emergency unit to run BP and Urinalysis for you. Preeclampsia and post partum eclampsia ain’t funny!
Stay safe mothers❤

I am so grateful for the amazing OB/GYN office I went to for my pregnancy! The midwife that worked with the team caught my preeclampsia very early when my liver function numbers started to go up. My blood pressure was normal and I didn’t have protein in my urine but she was concerned enough to get me admitted to the hospital. I ended up getting a cesarean before the week was out and my son and I did just fine. It’s so important to have good medical providers!

Did the mother in this episode “die?”

My wife had preeclampsia with our first born. My son was delivered at 27 weeks. It was the scariest moment of my life because I could have lost both of them. Praise God that they are alive and well.

I had pre eclampsia, I was blessed to deliver my baby girl at 38 weeks even though they kept me in labor for 4 days but my baby said get me out of here, she's now a healthy 27 year old chemist! To God Be the Glory!

Unfortunately we’re told things are “normal” because we’re so conditioned to downplay things. It’s hard to advocate for ourselves when we’re constantly told we’re overreacting, nervous, emotional etc because a Dr is telling us “it’s normal at this stage”. I almost died from not only ovarian torsion but masked appendicitis (the torsion pain was hiding the appendicitis pain). I was told by ED Dr, since I had previous ovarian cysts that the pain was “normal”. I will forever be grateful I had a Dr on the ward that simply had a gut feeling something wasn’t right. The original ER Dr was signing off on paperwork to send me home when that OB/GYN they’d called reviewed my chart. Her word for further testing saved my life……I was only 32 at the time and yes, had I gone home with the prescribed pain meds, I absolutely would have died. I almost did during surgery. I hemorrhaged as the torsion tore an adhesion from a previous cyst and my appendix was as the abdominal surgeon described “grossly distended and minutes from rupture”. While this show is a dramatization and not medically accurate……it’s not all that far off the mark!!
