Just got word that Melanie passed away. My sister Gloria used to play this song over and over back in the 70's. Gloria passed away last year from cancer at 67. Rest in peace Gloria... rest in peace Melanie. Melanie did not need all the computers that today's "singers" need. Pure real voice!!

One voice, one guitar, no big show, no effects no flashing lights, no gimmicks, no suggestive moves. The days when you could sit and listen to a natural singer.

Melanie, you were the real deal. You didn't need any flash. You had real talent.

My sister, 15 years between us, (her older) LOVED Melanie . She married when I was 8 . I was devastated . She came to me at her Wedding reception and told me shed left me something on my bed. It was her Melanie Records. She died a couple of years later. NOBODY could sing like Melanie, but I hear my Sis, nearly 50 years later, every time. Thanks Melanie, im owe you one girl xx

RIP kid. She was married before she played at Woodstock, and stayed with the same bloke until he died in 2010...Very unusual in the music industry!

Put Melanie in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame posthumously. It's an unbelievable shame that she wasn't inducted in her lifetime. Such a generational icon and talent! RIP beautiful soul. Cheers\=/\=/

What a star. It's not easy to take a famous song, and make it yours. Her rendition can stand alone. RIP Melanie.

Thank goodness somebody was smart enough to film this so it will be saved for our grandkids will know what real music and pure performing is.

It's worth being older now, to have been young then.

Melanie puts incredible amounts of genuine emotion into songs. She's on a different level to most artists.

The difference between Melanie and the wannabees is her emotion, she puts it into every song she sings, which makes it like she's singing just to you.

She was a singular talent - by that I mean she didn't sound like anyone else and no one sounded like her. Such an amazing strong voice. She hit when I was in high school. We all loved her songs. Sad to hear today that she's passed on to the next world. RIP Melanie Safka

Brilliant version of a great song. Melanie puts so much emotion into all her songs, a singer who should've had much more success than she achieved. A minimal delivery, just voice and guitar, but that's all what was needed. Brilliant!

The power, emotion and raw energy that Melanie puts into her singing leaves me breathless and tearful. Just beautiful.

Up until i heard of Melanie Safka's death, i only knew of the Rolling Stones version. Although the Rolling Stones version is good,
i actually very much enjoyed this version. She was much more talented then some remembering her for "Brand New Key". Of course, people who followed her throughout her career most likely already knew this. I love this version. I just want to keep playing it.
Thank you Melanie for sharing your talents and yourself in this world. May you rest in peace.
