I seem to recall that Apple touted the fact that iPadOS was the same across all of the iPad model range. Now they are fracturing the ecosystem into haves and have nots centered around the M1 chip with no explanation or apology. I got my 12.9 2020 two months before M1; I now feel like an ugly stepchild.

Honestly the window thing is whatever but the external display is a game changer, its already the best everyday computer IMO but with this the ability to use it for intensive tasks is amazing

makes me a little sad that early adopters of the redesigned iPads will be missing out on the "iPad is a laptop" feature. I'm sure they could at the very least give non M1 chips proper external display support if they wanted to.

Take away M1 iPad only features and what does iPadOS get?? A weather app and changes that iOS and macOS gets.. Thanks Apple, hopefully iPadOS 17 gives us lockscreen customization

Even though stage manager is about 60% of what I want, I'll take it. I really do enjoy working on my iPad despite its shortcomings, and being able to multitask to this degree can unlock some more workflows to get closer to a full time desktop replacement. Can't wait!

Sad thing about Stage Manager and the resolution scale options is they're only available on the M1 iPads I believe.

Stage Manager makes the usable app size much smaller bc the dock and stage is hogging up the screen. Dock cannot hide? Apple showed a white Thunderbolt cable! #want
