I work in Accounting for a Property Management company. As long as the Rental Resident puts the apartment back to the condition it was when they first moved in. Full refund of their deposit. If you plan on living there a long time, go for it. Remember, you can always get charged for the repaint and damage if you leave without correcting your choices. Good information to know.

I'm a property manager, and I'd definitely suggest to touch base with your landlord before doing any painting, and even the putty. They'll probably expect you to repaint it to the original colors. Make sure to cover up the floors while painting. And definitely check before changing cabinet hardware to something with a different hole arrangement (ie - current cabinet has 1 hole, you add another, etc). Also, for any electrical work (dimmers, fixture changes, etc) it is pretty basic stuff, but you can very easily hurt yourself and/or damage the property if you don't know what you're doing.

I used to live in a rental appartment between 2011-19, but then I moved home to my moms since I was struggling a little financially, but most of all with my mental health. I've been working a LOT on that this past year, and I'm actually currently living as a resident at my younger brothers place, but I got some great news 2 days ago!
I'm moving into a new rental on December 1st. We're signing the papers in just a few days.
I'm sooo excited to get my own place again, and I'm looking forward to giving it my own touch. I have a pretty good idea of how I want it to look, but since I'm all pepped I'm looking around to get some more inspiration~
