Yes. Those low turns to final approach better align early or turn early. Seen to many old pilots not aligning well on short approaches too. Many dont do short approaches because the cannot align well due they either turn too shallow or turn too late..

My time in Trainer with Instructor shows I did this correctly; Yesterday in studies I notice an issue with Banked Left; Then _not as naturally proficient_ starts to crank into the line up with runway using rudder rather than balance of controls and let banking allocate lift forces to vectoring momentum to / toward runway heading ◘ My technique was apply flaps in / during the turn as it was only a Trainer and I cleared the flying technique with Instructor prior to using it ~ worked particularly well as Flap Deployment gained some minor Speed Brake effect and Ballooning was countered with natural feel for what the vehicle was doing

Those low turning optical illussions have killed a lot that only do high altitude turns.. Even with thousands of turns up there, low altitude maneuvering is different maneuvering..
