More land would be catastrophic. It would cause a domino effect that would result in more earthquakes due to groundon rearenging/breaking the tecnonic plates and would lead to more tornadoes due to the water in the oceans heating faster. It would backfire FAST

You forgot one very important detail: the anime goes out of its way to have Maxie specify that he only planned on increasing the landass by 30%, meaning he never intended on getting rid of all water or even most of the ocean.

Also, fun fact, most life in the ocean are located near the coastlines, at most several dozen if not a hundred miles away from it. Plus more land means more home for every creature on the planet and more chances for nutrient distribution.

Waking up a tattooed Godzilla with serious beef with Free Willy isn't the way to go though.
