0:40 Why is there a medium right after an intersection? That is begging for terrible mid-intersection merging. In the winter it would be worse because you wouldn't be able to see the lines before the intersection.

If they could make left turns in to the interchange from McLeod, traffic light free, it would be great

Cool plans, just wish the exit from the Superstore straight back onto McLeod Trail South was still there. But this looks pretty neat too. :-)

The amount of land within the city reserved for vehicles is astounding. Without vehicles Calgary would not exist in it's present form, since it has spread itself out, all over the land. Future dead land.

By far the superior design for a high volume overpass. The free flow left turns on to the freeway reduce the number of traffic signal sequences required to keep all directions moving.

Not only are you diverting traffic lanes twice not to mention to the opposite side of the road in an extremely short distance but your forcing drivers to change multiple lanes while trying to see what lane thier in (even in good weather) all while putting in completely uneccessary traffic lights so drivers can hit pedestrians crossing them because thier too busy shoulder checking due to all the lane changing. Absolutely terrible.

This was an absolute disaster of design and implementation. The original intersection was actually safer and easier to negotiate for pedestrians and drivers. Attempting a new interchange model was a terrible idea and a complete failure. What was merely an attempt at a more efficient and trendy interchange turned out to be an unsafe, confusing and limited visibility nightmare of a design choice to create accidents instead of prevent them. The entire intersection needs to be redone and taxpayers shouldn't be footing the bill for this mistake. Anyone who's actually driven this interchange will instantly agree and ongoing incidence history will only maintain that Canada's first diverging diamond interchange will be its last. Take my advice, find a proper design specialist who can fix this at minimal expense. Otherwise pedestrian and accident claims are going to rival mitigation costs and in short order.

The divergent diamond idea is brilliant but there really isn't enough room for this intersection. If you're heading south on Mcleod trail, try turning right then immediately left to get to the shops on Shawville Blvd. You can't do it, you have to either go past and loop back on backroads or take an earlier right at the Superstore parking lot to make it to those shops. There used to be a loopback near hwy 22x to get to those shops but I don't think it's there anymore.

Great animation but haven't you guys discovered roundabouts yet ?? No traffic lights, greater traffic volume and much much safer.

This honestly looks awful. Why can't you just make a clover leaf system that we know works and would cost way less.

this really does look awful, all this when you could just use right lanes to exit in both directions. you make a ramp make a complete circle for example like every other major highway and avoid the lights and intersections all together

What a joke, a complete waste of time and money, the new design will do absolutely nothing to improve traffic flow ... makes you wonder where they found the genius who designed this interchange.

I can see any person over 65 getting completely messed up and confused on this. KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID. This is over engineered, takes up to much space, causes more frustration and congestion, why go through 3 sets of lights when you could go through one
