Expedition 30 Crew Departs for Kazakh Launch Site

Expedition 30 Soyuz Commander Oleg Kononenko, NASA Flight Engineer Don Pettit and European Space Agency Flight Engineer Andre Kuipers participated in traditional ceremonies at the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center in Star City, Russia, outside Moscow on December 8, 2011. Afterward, they departed for the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan to complete training for their launch to the International Space Station in the Soyuz TMA-03M spacecraft on December 21. After arriving in Baikonur, they will conduct a series of prelaunch activities as they prepare for liftoff to the orbital outpost.
