Well for me this is nonsense because I can't stop eating nuts once I've started. They are super addictive.

Maybe it's because dietary fiber isn't 'used' by the body but it still counts as calories because labeling for calories is determined by burning the food.

That's precisely what I've long ago, with my own logic, concluded, and talked about it. That's right, it's not the same thing to eat walnuts and butter from walnuts..., because, the vast majority of us will not chew enough that all the masses could digest and absorb...
And not just for nuts, this applies to all the raw foods ... the calories from the food, probably due to the abundant presence of fibers, are slowly released, but also trapped in fibers ... Insulin matters, calories don't. See Dr. Jason Fung, Dr. Robert Lustig or Gary Taubes. Or keep listening to Gregor beat his head against the wall.
