It has a major advantage when you want/need to use straight fluorocarbon. It manages fluorocarbon way better than a spinning reel.

It is fun, I bought a small Calcutta 50 about 30 years ago on a short cast away creek rod. It can't throw as tiny a bait as the new BFS reels, but it's a ton of fun, and I still use it...FishOn...jimi

In streams is where it shines because your thumb control when casting. Then you can instantly be picking up line in current you've casted into. Also kinda fun to use an ultra lite casting setup 1.5lbers feel so mean.😅

kastking valiant eagle 2 is the best BFS reel for me ... i mean 1gram lure is not a problem to cast at all and yes i do use 1-3gram lure to catch fish in Malaysia 👍👍

The reel has nothing to do with catching bass that live in pressured waters. It’s all about the right lure and how you work it. BFS exists for us guys that hate spinning gear and prefer bait casters. It’ll also out fish any spinning reel on the market.

BFS fishing is a lot of fun. I got a JDM Shimano SLX BFS from Digitaka. Price was fair and shipped fast. I'm also using a UL rod from Old18.
