Imagine arguing here about her being from Russia/Ukraine when it clearly says "in the 80's"

Love to see celebrities using their platform, as well as her own money to support important causes, i hope she is very successful

I don’t remember her ever talking she was Russian. I always knew she was Ukrainian because she would always talk in talk shows and articles she was Ukrainian

Family Guy needs to make a "Meg Saves Ukraine" episode once this is over. Meg deserves a win IMO.

My in-laws and husband fled the USSR. A lot of people from the USSR just say they are Russian. They do but they came from a different country. It was sort of embedded. So it’s not weird that she said she was Russian instead of Ukraine.

People also just say Russia when they come from the Soviet Union, my parents are from Uzbekistan and Tajikistan and see themselves as Russian

Her parents took $0…zero..dollars from the money she made. She said everyone was poor but she had money. They even refuse to let her buy them dinner or treat them to anything. Incredible parents

The biggest shock in my eyes is that Jackie and Kelso are married in real life.

Talk about doing something good with fame !!! Ashton has brought down more sex traffickers than the fbi ... and he seems to have found the perfect team mate to do good with Mila

As a Russian person I ALWAYS point out other countries like Belarus or Latvia to my European friends. "Oh no, this dish is not Russian, but close enough - it's Ukrainian" ; "Yes, this actor has a Slavic accent, but it's not Russian - he's from Serbia" e.t.c.
Every country has it's own culture. Especially Slavic countries. So many amazing countries and people in them. Even if your country is small, it still IS important. Tell everyone you are from it so people know it exists! Be proud of your culture. Love to all slavs out there 🖤

Yep, I definitely believe that most Americans don't even know where ukraine is, I'm sure even now.

I honestly get it. I’m Lithuanian and whenever someone asks where it is, i say, it’s next to russia. It’s honestly easier, but they might think you’re russian.

Shes both. Ukraine wasnt independant when she left. A few countrys on the border of russia ie lithuiania, latvia ukraine have people who identify as both. They all speak russian... and have their own languages. Some older people are very loyal to russia...and the old ways. Where younger people arnt. Alot of slovac a countrys can communicate in russian even while speaking different languages. The break up of the USSR and Yugoslavia arnt that old. Big ups mila shes never hidden her roots shes proud ukrainian and comes from full russian heritage. Her and ashton have some amazing things to help

It’s completely understandable that she made the choices that she did. And I’m really glad that she’s being vocal about her heritage and she & her husband are putting their celebrity to good use.

She’s Jewish from Ukraine. Her family fled Ukraine for more freedom and safety a better life for their children. She had family that perished and survived the Holocaust. She said she was Russian because many don’t know Ukraine or the differences in that area of the world and like many immigrants she felt it easier. It’s my understanding she took dna tests and that’s what started her journey back right before the war started

She is Jewish born in Ukraine, speaks Russian, and was growing up in the USA. Being Jewish in USSR time was a great opportunity to move out of the country. Her parents jumped on the opportunity, and did the right thing leaving the communist state.
