The issue is that there is a negative connotation to the word. It sounds as though you mean an evil spirit. Every "demon" is not an evil spirit. The word just means intermediaries. It could just be a spirit, you don't know. Christianity deemed everything that is not part of Christianity a demon. But it is ignorant to paint with such a broad stroke the entire spiritual realm.
