Lyrics:
Kids out driving Saturday afternoon just pass me by
And I'm just savoring familiar sights
We share some history, this town and I
And I can't stop that long forgotten feeling of her
Try to book a room and stay tonight
Number one is to find some friends to say "you're doing well"
After all this time you boys look just the same
Number two is the happy hour at one of two hotels
Settle in to play "do you remember so and so?
Number three is never say her name
Oh the flame trees will blind the weary driver
And there's nothing else could set fire to this town
There's no change, there's no pace Everything within its place
Just makes it harder to believe that she won't be around
But oh who needs that sentimental bullshit, anyway
Takes more than just a memory to make me cry
And I'm happy just to sit here a table with old friends
And see which one of us can tell the biggest lies
And there's a girl falling in love near where the pianola stands
With a young local factory auto worker just holding hands
And I'm wondering if he'll go or if he'll stay
Do you remember, nothing stopped us on the field
In our day
Oh the flame trees will blind the weary driver
And there's nothing else could set fire to this town
There's no change, there's no pace
Everything within its place
Just makes it harder to believe that she won't be around
Oh the flame trees will blind the weary driver
And there's nothing else could set fire to this town
There's no change, there's no pace
Everything within its place
Just makes it harder to believe that she won't be around

I'm from the U.S. and let me tell you that I'm 60 years old and I'm seeing and hearing Barnes for the first time today. NO ONE over here has any idea who he is. For whatever reason American radio has NEVER played him or Cold Chisel.

Jimmy, no matter what, I hope you know we love you. I’ve read your books, I watched you sing four walls on hey hey, I’ve got every chisel and solo album, I’ve even delivered stone to Bowral for you.
You’ve made a video for a friend who had cancer. Much respect.
You have been a constant in my life and that of many others.
As you get older I pray you reflect on what a beautiful man you are, with all due respect to Jane for backing you up.
I’m grateful to have grown up with you guys in my life, to see your kids so far from the “when your love is gone” days even makes me proud.
Love you mate, honestly.
I’m just someone whose life you’ve touched.
Bless you and your beautiful family,

Not sure if you remember I asked you to dedicate this some to my wife who has terminal cancer we meet you and Jane and the rest of the band back stage. You did dedicate it you my wife and you and the band spent time with us. You have no idea how much that meant to me and especially to my wife. Thank you Jimmy Barnes not only do you release fantastic music but your a very genuine man. Couldn’t have asked for more. You truly are a legend mate.

This guy is an absolute legend; that legend also has it that millions have wondered how JB hasn't suffered a heart attack after each show. SK3:16😎

Can’t keep a good, great singer down. And you won’t be sitting down for many years. Love that you perform with your family, your musical gene is still gushing through your vanes ❤️👍

Hi from France, i've been out of Australia 31years now, but an old Cold Chisel song brings back so many great memories.
Great to hear you sing live, brings back memories, your voice sounds great.

My favourite Cold Chisel song and one of my fave songs of all time. It evokes a different time and place and tells a story that anyone who moves out of a small town knows so well. Thanks so much for sharing. As a Kiwi living in the UK listening to great Aussie/Kiwi music always makes me feel closer to home. Thanks

The first time I saw you was in the song 'Big Enough' with Kirin J Callinan. I decided to see what kind of music a guy with such a voice made. Never would have guessed one Google search could change my life so much! You've been one of my favorite artists ever since!

When Jimmy played in Cairns in 2019 it was 9 months after losing my little sister and hearing this song helped me get all my emotions out, I cried A LOT, screamed and danced the night away. My mum and I were very lucky to have won backstage passes to meet Jimmy and he helped us get through the toughest time. THANK YOU JIMMY WE WILL SEE YOU AGAIN ON SATURDAY MAY 15 :)
