I think you’re guaranteed a map drop every week doing delves. So save yourself 20k and just do some delves

Few things to clarify:
1: to drop the map you do NOT need to run a tier 8 delve.
2: You also do NOT need a bountiful delve for the HC gear.

So basically no bountiful delve needed

I just did it, the thing I purchased disappeared. All i got was some gold and undercoins. I'll save my time and undercoins for other things and wait for the weekly map.

If you don't make it he will drop a piece of Champion gear at, think it was, 2/8. I didn't make it but got a Champion 2/8 trinket from him.

No idea how you were able to buy it from ah. The item is a warbound item when you buy it with undercoin and cannot be listed to sell on ah.
