I was born in Jerusalem, Israel, in an ultra-Orthodox Jewish family. I tried to be like them, but it didn't work because of where I'm coming from or, where my mother came from, or how I'm looking like.
My mother is from Yemen, and my father is Russian. And in this community, everybody belonged to their place. On one side, they were teaching me to behave friendly and to love one another.
On one side, they teach me a lot about racism. And if somebody is not exactly like you, you're better than everybody; I felt that was wrong.
I went to this place. They had meetings, but they didn't exactly talk about God. They talked about what it does and, what it can do for you, and how you should live right.
It talked to my heart. And it opened my heart again to think, "All right, wait a second. Maybe I didn't know God."
