I had this happen a while back. I didn't notice during the fight that the darkness stuff stayed in the center even when Dark Sword started flying around the room, so it was only after I finished the fight that I noticed it the first time around. That's why video playback is so nice! My guess is that perhaps I used the instant transform at just the right time and maybe that was why the darkness stayed there? I don't know really.
