Honestly the 1999 scarlet eyes look way more special and beautiful to me than the 2011 version. The 2011 is a very generic gem like colour. The 1999 version is like a very eerie but beautiful red, like a red that is unnatural. I can see why body parts collectors would want to collect the eyeballs because it is morbidly beautiful.

I actually felt a chill when I saw his face here. And the way his eyes glow as he’s hit with light from the streetlamp? He doesn’t even need to say anything to convey his murderous intent. You can just feel it when you look at him.

This is one scene where I have to admit the 1999 version did it far better and the overly dark atmosphere of it actually enhanced the scene rather than taking away from it like usually

it does *not* sell just how fucking terrifying Kurapika is in this moment as well as this scene in this run.
