A woman was arrested for kidnapping a 3-year-old who has now been safely returned, according to officials with the Richland County Sheriff's Department.
Atia Monay Thomas, 40, was arrested and charged with kidnapping and abduction. A man had earlier seen the child on the road and was told by Atia Monay Thomas, a stranger to the family, that she would return him home. However, Thomas instead took the child to her residence, changed his clothes, and later attempted to flee with him in an Uber.
