The netrunner Cyberpsyco close to there was doing a similar job that Placide did but failed. Could Fara have been that Psycho's Ranyon?

It's a shitty business model as well, because mercenaries are not only relatively cheap in Night City, but fucking plentiful.

Seriously, some of the people we kill in the game have a bounty less than a new car, I reckon most of them do in reality. If the VB kill every merc they ever hire, no outside mercs are going to want to work with them at a certain point (hell, V knows it's a bad idea and only does it out of desperation), this sounds like 'the plan' at first for the VB's, but if no mercs are willing to work with you then the only people you can send to die are literally YOUR OWN PEOPLE.

by trying to be 'self sufficient' in the crime life, they literally damn more of their own people to death. Wakako, El Capitan, Padre, none of them only send their own men to their deaths, in a lot of cases they send us, or other mercs, to do the job. And even if we fuck up in some way, oh well, the gig was a bust but at least if we die they don't lose any cash OR their own soldiers lives.

VB's are stupid in so many ways, and it all stems from Pride. Pride is the reason they all died in my playthroughs as well.
