The Knockouts division kept womens wrestling ALIVE from 2007 to 2015 before WWE EVER jumped on the womens wrestling bandwagon. If you haven’t seen the knockouts matches from TNA back in the day I would HIGHLY recommend going on a deep dive they were doing matches WWE would’ve never touched back in those days.

I would assume that Mickie's participation might be a way for WWE to make up for the trashbags incidents.
Also, it is sad to notice how WWE has fired so many wrestlers as of late that in order to get enough participants to the women's RR they had to bring in so many former wrestler no longer under contract (Lita, Michelle, the Bellas, Kelly, Summer and of course Mickie).
I just hope that the aknowledgment by WWE that Mickie is champion in another promotion won't lead to her being buried to make Impact look like a total joke. Knowing Vince, that's certainly not below him.

This isn't opening a door. They needed another good women's wrestler to fill the rumble because they've cut too many. Mickie probably told them they had to acknowledge her impact title or she wouldn't agree to do it.
