Cool story! Love Huey, it’s unfortunate about the troubles he’s had with his hearing. Saw him live a few times. Great show!

Great tight band from bay area. Most don't know of A&R folks. Glad Bill is the solid book of information. Wonderful these interviews. Thanks so much.

A man I worked with played golf with Huey. He actually got me an autographed picture of Huey. So sorry about his hearing loss. I hear he's working on Sirius Radio. I wish him all the best. I love hearing the stories about Huey.

I'm surprised by the resistance to play 'Couple of Days Off' on the radio. It's an awesome song that everyone would sing in the hallways in school or in the car when it came on.
It did very well in the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut market. 95.5 WPLJ NY probably launched it.
BTW The big electric guitars are what makes this song great...
Let the listeners of the radio make the decision of what makes and breaks a song....
Topic for Rick Beato

Love these Bill clips, great stories. Sad that people overlooked the Small World album; its a great album and unique in the Huey catalog. Same with Hard at Play.

Very interesting! Heard a story where Huey said that (the powers that be)wanted to replace their drummer Bill Gibson very early on. I wonder if Bill S. was the one that wanted to replace him? Bill Gibson is a criminally underrated drummer. I guess when you record Jeff Porcaro, no one would be good enough. 😉

Pablo Cruise was popular in the late 1970s esp in the Bay Area. 🌁

Bill Schnee produced Hard at Play with Huey Lewis and the News #30years ago. 🎂 Although Mutt Lange was cowriting + coproducing Waking Up the Neighbours with Bryan Adams, Mutt reunited with Huey Lewis. They wrote It Hit Me Like a Hammer, which was a hit.

Later in the same year, Bryan Adams had a few hits from the album. Everything I Do I Do It for You was the biggest hit in 1991.

Huey Lewis thanked BA + Mutt Lange. Their credits are in the Hard at Play liner notes.

Just wanted to express a thought. I like this channel because it allows you to comment. Harmless Dave doesn't. I'm leery of anyone who uses the word "real" as a adjective or noun to quantify anyone or anything where the inference is that anyone or anything else is unreal inauthentic or disingenuous. I'm always hyper aware of how people speak and the syntax they use.

Is Bill related to music critic Stephen Schnee?

Put acoustics on Couple Days Off?!?!?!? That was really insane. I'm glad they didn't! Also it's funny 'cause 2 years later bands like Rage Against The Machine and Pearl Jam went big, and their guitar are much more heavier!
Can't stand radio and music business!

Its too bad there has to be a business side to music!..

Ah, yes, the "unplugged" days. I'm glad you all stuck to your guns. I find the thought of that song with acoustics laughable especially with Bill's heavy back beat.
