This guy is a Russian apologist! NATO never advocated for the expansion of NATO. It was Russia’s neighbours who wanted it. And who could blame them. For centuries, Russia’s idea of security was to build a buffer zone around them consisting of unwilling nations. In 1939 they invaded and occupied the Baltic Countries and half of Poland and after WWII they occupied all of Eastern Europe for 50 years, robbing and pillaging them to support their own unsustainable economy.

There is no moral justification for Russia’s actions. And their contention that NATO’s actions constitute aggression against them is a self serving argument that has absolutely no merit whatsoever.

For Russians to say that the current expansion of NATO is analogous to Russia expanding there influence into Canada or Mexico is absolutely absurd. Canada and Mexico want no part of Russia and are not afraid of a military invasion by the USA. This is completely different from the desires of Russia’s neighbours who virtually demanded membership in NATO.

Nobody forced them to join NATO. At some point Russia joining NATO was on the table.

My Hungarin in-laws have this same perspective. America/NATO have a pipe dream that Russia can be rubbed out of existence without any consequences to speak of. We have a ravenous appetite for comfort, security, and control, and see no need for counterbalancing peers on the world stage.

Nato was pretty much created as the anti soviet union club, once the soviet union collapsed rather than demilitarizing the country and diminishing nato, the US enjoyed having it's global hegemony, so we just made it the anti Russia club instead
