Unlike Teacher, The Guru Doesn't Want Your Money

"The guru is one who removes ignorance. Guru helps his shishya-s overcome the bondage of the material world by showering them with wisdom.

Guru is regarded as the embodiment of deva-s and has a strong moral and ethical character. Teacher is just an expert in mundane knowledge and no prerequisites of moral faultlessness are required to be a teacher. Guru, no doubt, is an expert in his subject and also acts as a teacher, but these are necessary, and not sufficient, characteristics of a guru.

Another point of distinction between a guru and a teacher is that the latter imparts knowledge to students for regular monetary benefit, whereas this was considered anathema in the gurukula system.

It was only after the completion of education that a student was expected to offer something in return to the guru as guru-dakshina."

I am so glad that this is mentioned in this video. My Guru - Guru Siyag never asked for any money. Any Guru who asks for money is really not a "Guru".

So true but sad at the same time because the current generation is taught that both the terms are synonyms.

Sir, I will be obliged if you can cover the difference between ' Murti' and Idol. As there is no corresponding word to Sanskrit word 'Murti' in any languages. It has very deep meaning even modern Hindus consider themselves idol worshippers demeaning themselves when Idol is not the right word even in farthest of its connotation to divine word 'Murti'

I hope you have added 'पूजा' in this book.

Pranam Rajiv ji,
Does a teacher, according to your explanation, belong to Brahmin Varna or Vaishya?
Thanks you.
