This is the first video in a 2 part video series for a pattern sew along to create the "Glacier Base Bags", a pattern by Janelle MacKay of Emmaline Bags. DETAILS BELOW ↓

This Glacier Bag Bundle includes 2 complete patterns that will make 3 bags in total. Please note: this pattern includes instruction for some "seam binding" to finish inside seams with fold-over elastic. You can watch the videos to see how easy this is to do!

The GLACIER BASE BAG pattern is an intermediate level version of the more advanced Glacier Crossbody Bag*. The mini is made from the outer pockets of the Glacier Crossbody, and the large is made using the main compartment. Both have a long strap that extends to 61” (155 cm) long, and a padded compartment. The large size, which is the quicker make of the two, features an outer slip pocket with a flap closure that snaps shut, and the mini features a vertical zipper pocket. *The Glacier Crossbody Bag is a stand-alone pattern that incorporates the mini and large into one pattern, and is included in this pattern bundle.

Thank you so much!!! Not having a video, is usually what holds me back from making a pattern.

I don't think I've ever seen a more thorough tutorial. Thanks for the bazillion samples; they're a great help for a visual learner (like me).

Hi Emma, I was wondering if you put the OdiCoat on your fabric before or after interfacing, that's my next step but wasn't for sure what to do. Thanks for your help and for making this video

Thanks for the great tutorial. What is the name of the company that makes those cork labels?

Nicely done Janelle! ❤️ I haven’t been sewing or posting much on FB lately due to some health issues, but I did get my BOM patterns & am really looking forward to making this one. Your Trifecta bags are already one of my favourite patterns but I suspect this one will be added to that list as well. Will have to pop into the shop again sometime soon & say hi. 😉

Btw - how did you like the Odi coat? Did you find it easy to work with? I’ve been using a spray-on waterproofing fabric spray for years now for my large orders, but have been wondering if this might work well for small ones. 🤔🤷🏻‍♀️
