This may be satire, but what first turned me on to the plight of the Palestinians was an interview of an Israeli minister (it may have been Ehud Barak) on BBC's Hard Talk many years ago.

The minister in question responded to the observation that many Palestinian civilians had lost their lives with "we have to k_ll them before they k_ll us".

It took me a while to find material that would help me make sense of what was actually happening in the Holy Land (it would be a while before I would actually visit the place), but that comment was definitely pivotal.

Matt Lieb's bit about doing "g_nocide firsties" is satirical - but not by much...

The first time i visited New York, our hotel was in an area where i was delighted to find Lebanese and Palestinian food. The people in the restaurant looked and spoke like arabs, but i couldnt really get their language. My hubby laughed and explained that these people were speaking hebrew and that was when it dawned in me that i was amongst jews for the first time in my life. My first thoughts then were, but why are they fighting with the Palestinians and arabs when they look like arabs, eat like arabs and almost talk like arabs with the ’kha kha kha’ sounds they are making.
The jews belong in Palestine yes, but they need to go back and call the land Palestine, give back the land the Palestinians had to begin with. In return, im sure Saudi Arabia and UAE shall let the israeli jews build new cities in their countries and thrive as friends with them.
