Carnival Tries to Stay Ahead of Cruise Hackers

Cruise news today: Carnival Cruise Line has changed its website, requiring passengers to enter more details to access their booking. Barcelona plans to increase the tourist tax for cruise passengers, currently €7 per day for stays under 12 hours. Villa Vie Residences ship, the MS Odyssey, is still sitting in a Belfast dry dock two months past its initial launch date. Initially, the 31-year-old ship was holding on rudder parts and inspections; now, management said both it’s approved, and the ship has a new departure date of July 30. Cruise line stocks for CCL, RCL, NCLH, and VIK.

If folks are interested the bridge the Villa Vie cruise ship was about to go under was the Forth Rail bridge, I stay in South Queensferry, just off to the right of the picture.
It is located just outside Edinburgh, Scotland

Although what Carnival is doing is a step forward, the addition information is readily available on Social sites. Look at someone’s feed for their birthday. Name, that’s there too. Sail date and ship, look at the group they are a member. The only thing someone couldn’t find is the booking number, which is really the only thing you needed to provide before. If people share the booking number, do you think they are going to lock down their socials for all the other information? Add a unique pin at the time of booking or the last 4 digits of the credit card you used for the deposit or something anyone with an internet connection and 30 spare minutes could find.
