Hello everyone and welcome to a new video!

Should I make another one in cotton velvet for the winter? 👀

I got so many comments about it I thought it was worth mentioning at the top here since it wasn't clear in the video! The skirt is cut like a skirt circle, with an opening at the front. There are no side seams to put pockets into! This was the problem. This can be solved early on in the construction by adding seam allowance to the skirt when cutting, but because mine was already cut, if I were to add seams post cutting, I would lose width in the waist radius and arrive at fit issues. I will for sure add side seams (and pockets!) to the winter version 😊

When you make it again add some belt loops for the sash- that way you won't be hunting for it on the loo trip! It is very nice and looks very comfortable!

Looks like a “stair master house”. Not the voluntary way to get in shape, but having lived in one, you will end up with strong legs.

It's beautiful! They don't make them to buy like that anymore, because the new ones are skimpy and still so expensive. I'm 70 so I know! Your robe is a treasure.

square pockets would look nice on next one

You may need to keep snacks in the pockets in case you get lost on your nighttime jaunts going to the bathroom. I think the housecoat turned out wonderfully. So swishy and elegant.

Love the drape of the robe and the way it swishes. Nothing nicer than a good robe.

Very nice. I love that we seem to be rediscovering wraps, house coats, house dresses, and house robes. Isn't it funny that they fell out of favor? They are so useful.

The other solution to the sash is to sew/tack the sash to the center back so it is always attached to the robe. I used that solution for Hubby's bath robe and his sash.

Put the pockets on the inside on the side seem. Love it.

Love how it turned out. I'm sure when you do a winter one, you will tweak it a little. Pockets in the seams. Or if another striped fabric pockets on a slant to match the stripe angle. Oooh i can see this in a French Navy velvet, lined with a soft deep plum colour..😃😃

I know it has nothing to do with sewing but I saw your rattlesnake plant in the background at the end and I am envious that you can keep it alive. Love the housecoat! You have inspired me to make one for my family’s European vacation this summer. We will be sharing b&b’s as we go, so it will be good to have something to throw over my night clothes 😊

This is exactly what I need! 🥰Why haven't I thought of that!
I have this striped jacquard fabric that I call a "curtain fabric", I don't have enough of it to make actual curtains, I thought of making pillowcases, but then again they wouldn't match my curtains. So this fabric have been sitting there in my closet for 2 years now and I didn't knew what to do with it, but now I think it would be perfect as a housecoat! 😁

I love the cotton velvet idea - a winter robe and a summer robe seems very sensible! I made a 1940s suit a while ago and it had the same awkward collar stand/shoulder yoke arrangement with the right angle bend and it's super awkward to sew but I think it looks great. It gives your robe a really classic vintage finish that I don't think you'd find on a modern pattern. I really fancy making one of these robes now! I might have to go hunting on eBay... 😄
