Unoxing a new Uniden CB Radio. Since the previous owner removed the existing CB Radio but left the antenna and power hook ups I decided to purchase an inexpensive replacement.

Always good to have a back up means of communications... Never underestimate the need to get your rear out of a jam! :-)

That's a big 4 10 roger there good buddy, keep the shiny side up and the rubber side down. We'll catch you on the flip, for sure for sure. This is the Billboard signing out.

Having a CB is indeed handy for getting up to date information, as well as getting warnings about those smokey bears taking pictures. ; )

Good one Chico, excellent purchase! Have the same unit in my work truck, works splendidly! You may want to do the book learning and get licensed for your ham radio. I was when I had my Tioga, I would just talk and conversate with friends or get aquainted with new people all through that time. It was a blast! Peace!

Chico getting a Ham or amateur radio license is easy, just a little book learning, easy for someone as together as you, a lot more options and more fun.

Breaker breaker 19, remember your radio is only as good as the antenna your using. I'm a Retired truck driver. It's nothing like it use to be, I think XM radio had a lot to do with it. And the New Breed steering wheel holders on the road today. I still won't travel without mine thou. It's nice to keep advised on the road ahead !

The previous owner of my coach also removed the CB, Chico. I still have the antenna and wire and have been thinking about getting a radio - so I'll be interested to see what you think of yours.

You know it's sad Rufus, smartphones and the internet killed off CB and Amateur radio I'm afraid. I was totally mad on it in my teens (1989 - 1994). 73's to you buddy.

CB still has some value as you mention when stuck in traffic you might pick up whats going on up ahead.but your Baofeng radio with your Ham License will keep you in contact with an extensive network of Ham radio operators.  you can find a ham license course here for your

"good buddy" has changed meaning an now refers to a gay male Because of that it is also an insult.... Cell phones did not kill the CB, people pushing to much power so they can talk all over the world did. It made it where talking to someone 20 miles away was hard to do. People just got fed up with the noise. It was still pretty big in the late 90s. I use to sit here an talk to friends all over the county at night. In around 2000 the noise got to bad for me. All you could hear was big radios out west or south of the border an people just gave up trying to talk on them. Still great to have on the road but they lost their place in living room...

CB is boring and has a severily limited comms range. HAM radio is where the fun is. Getting a license is very easy these days. Get a decent HF radio with a Tarheel mobile antenna and you'll be talking to people from all over the world. This hobby can be very addictive.
