When they asked Tuomas mother her favorite Nightwish song, she said it's this, she said she was amazed how Tuomas could write a song like this. He made lots of beautiful songs for Anette, and Tuomas ballads are just so beautiful.

One of the best ballads ever made in symphonic metal history.

Never been performed live but Jukka, did say if they ever get around to doing a full show with an orchestra and choir they will play it. Floor would be perfect of course.

Maybe my favorite of the Anette era. Definitely the best that she did exclusively. A great composition from Tuomas. They only performed it live once, in Finland in 2009. The London Symphony Orchestra performed Tuomas’s composition and arrangement for this. Hope mouse man gets to listen to this one.

Thank you. Sadly under-represented in reactions.
The other great Anette song for me, is Eva. I haven't found a decent live version but there are some videos with the studio version.

Meadows of Heaven is one of Tuomas' common cross-reference s in other songs. You'll hear the phrase come up from time to time.

This is one of my favorite NW songs!!! The imagery that Tuomas's lyrics painted and Anette's vocals conveyed were stunning!! BTW Anette did a live version of this song on her own and WOW did she nail it!!!

One of my absolute favorites from the Anette era!

Tuomas' composition and lyrics + Nightwish + London Philharmonic Orchestra + Metro Voices choir + conductor James Shearman = Eargasm!

I really hope that Tuomas will be financially free for the rest of his life to make the kind of music he wants! We will win in that !!!
Fortunately, their label, Nuclear Blast Records, lets Tuomas do what he wants. Once again, we are winners with each new NW album!
I'm already looking forward to the next one. And we have no idea what's coming!!! All we know is that it will surprise us again!

BTW. There is also a really great cover version of this song. A European monk band, Gregorian made several albums several years ago with cover songs of various pop and rock songs. This Nightwish song was one of them.
Unfortunately, there is no official live version of it, but the sound quality of the song in this link is tolerable. So someone from the audience filmed it. I think you will want to hear and see how Gregorian sings this. It's a great show!

Gregorian did a cover of this one, their live performance is outstanding!
I feel like this song doesn't get enough credit.

Tuomas wrote this about his childhood. One of 3 ballads on Dark Passion Play, along with Eva and The Islander

A very different Nightwish song. However, I liked it surprisingly much. Anette's vocals and Empu's guitar talent stood out on top. Great song.
