If the contacts in your iPhone suddenly disappeared without you deleting then let us see some ways to fix the issue.

Might be your contacts are synced in iPhone from the gmail account that you have added to your account in that case if you stop syncing the contacts from gmail account then contacts will be disappeared.
1. Open Settings.
2. Scroll down and go to Mail.
3. Select Accounts.
4. Select gmail and make sure that the contacts button is enabled.
5 Let's go back and if you have added another gmail account then go to that gmail account also and make sure that contacts button is enabled.
6. Now also if you stop syncing contacts from icloud then the contacts won’t appear in your iphone.
7. Go to settings again.
8. Tap on the name.
9. Go to icloud.
10. Then make sure that contacts button is enabled.
11. Now even if in both gmail account and in icloud contacts button is enabled but still if the contacts are missing then open the phone icon.
12. Select groups.
13. Make sure that all gmail, all icloud and if there is any other gmail account, all of them should be selected.
14. Then select Done.
15. Now you can see the contacts.

i have tried the first two options it ddnt work… i also tried the 3rd method on my contact there is no group option 😢
