Due to high levels of pollution swimming has been banned in The Seine since 1923. One hundred years plus one successful Olympic bid seem to have made all the difference because French officials say the Seine will be swimmable by 2024, in time for the Paris Games!

If Paris pulls this off, then i hope other places in Europe will also make their waters swimmable and drinkable, knowing the scourging temperatures we´ve been enduring for the last few years.
It only makes sense.

They have open swimming and water parks on Lake Erie, and it was so polluted in the early 70s it caught on fire. It can be done and there is your proof.
