If August had only the Indie World without the attached Partner Showcase, then I would've guessed a general Nintendo Direct in September and a Switch 2 reveal trailer + live show in February.

Since the Partner Showcase was included with the Indie World in August, I predict that there will be a Switch 2 reveal trailer + live show in September and the first general Nintendo Direct to feature Nintendo Switch 2 games alongside Nintendo Switch 1 games in February.

Nothing was announced yesterday that justified its own Direct. Nintendo wasted 40 minutes for what otherwise would have been a 5 minute highlight reel. If there isn't another Direct, Nintendo's going to be hurting this year.

Announcing the Switch 2 before Christmas this year has the same problems when people said it wouldn't get announced last year. At least before, the argument was that Nintendo was copying their strategy with the Switch (even though that was never true)... Now, a March release is off the table, so there's nothing to copy. There's no reason to expect an announcement.

8:01 companies can still announce games for the Switch successor (I’ll be calling it NX2 because I like that name better) Games like Breath of the Wild and Sonic Forces were announced for NX *long* before it was revealed as the Switch.

I feel like if they moved the Direct to August to make room for something it has to be in September. I don’t see why you’d move an early to mid September Direct to make room for a reveal in October. Maybe it isn’t Switch 2 but the combined presentation was so strange and unprecedented I think there is some sort of Nintendo announcement next month.

Likley but not certain, saved up money for switch 2 day 1 with games and accessories. Switch is my all time favourite console but im feeling ready for a new generation

I just don’t know what Nintendo is gonna do.

I could see a general Direct Mini because Nintendo has to eventually announce first party Switch games that will be coming in 2025.

I could see a reveal in a full Direct in September that features Switch 2 first and third party, and some Switch 1.

I could see a trailer for Switch 2 in September with news later. I can also see that waiting for October.

I could also just see nothing in September.

I personally would hold off on Switch 2 reveal until October just because Nintendo wants to sell like, 150 million Switches by the end of the year and I feel like a new console reveal WOULD step on the toes of the Zelda edition Switch Lite they’re making. I don’t believe they need to worry about the software through the end of the year, since like, Zelda will do well, Mario and Luigi will do well, and Mario Party especially will do well, Switch 2 or no.

Considering those games are (potentially) backwards compatible with Switch 2, it’s reasonable to assume they’ll sell well over time not only for the near future, but over Switch 2’s lifespan. But a special edition console might get its sales hurt because “oh, I can’t buy this- I want to save my money for the next Switch!” And yeah, I’m sure it’d still sell decently, but like… I’d much rather wait a few weeks to avoid stepping on the toes of new HARDWARE since the software will sell regardless.

Also, yeah, PH Brazil was right. What he said about Indie World was worded weirdly and might’ve been wrong, but he was definitely right like… a solid 80-100 percent. He’s still an online person talking Nintendo rumors, so I’m not gonna blindly follow him or any rumors since you always gotta be skeptical.

I know a lot of people will say they won't announce it because it will affect Switch 1 sales, but honestly I feel like anyone who wants a Switch (and has the money for it) already has one, and if they don't they will try to get it second hand for cheaper. Console sales are already slowing down and I don't think the games coming out the rest of the year are going to be affected if the Switch 2 is backwards compatible (which it likely will be).
