Why does it seem like in A LOT of these stories the mother excuses horrible behavior on the part of one of her children towards their siblings. Story 2 at best his father saw his son was closer with his mother and tried to force that wound his mothers death made closed as fast as possible, and all the removal of her photos and stuff was to stop him remembering and being depressed about her death. That is all highly unlikely.

A month and a half is way to fast, and does make cheating a very possible thing, plus the birthday announcement was out of line that is stealing a day from your son to put on yourselves.

If his dad was slower it might have played out different, like 6 months then admit to dating. And not removing all his mothers things, let his son grieve then he might have seen his step mum as not a mum but a relative or someone his dad is dating that he can know and rely on to an extent. But he took the hammer approach and shattered any chance of knowing his son
