Have you heard the "cry of tin"? Do you know what other beautiful sound it can make? What is "tin pest"? Andrea Sella, chemist, answers these questions in this film, which is part of our Elements series. He is curating an Elements event with Hugh Aldersey-Williams on Friday 22 June 2012 that will look at gold, silver and bronze (tin and copper). This special late night event will have activities, talks, performance and live experiments happening all over the building.

Don't know how I found this, but it's one of my favorite unintentional ASMR videos to revisit. This guy is so entertaining to watch, and his passion for chemistry comes through crystal clear. Wish I could find more then 4 or 5 of his Elements videos here on YT.

a shame they haven't made a program that simulates these things. I thought it'd be plausible if all that's in play is temperature and pressure

The atomic configuration at 0:08 is wrong - it's silver (atomic #47, covered in a separate video), not tin (atomic #50).
